All of our certification courses are done with SOLO Wilderness Medicine. SOLO is the longest continuously operating wilderness medical school in the country and they are a great resource.
SOLO WFR courses are the standard for anyone who wants to work in the outdoors, guide, or be prepared for more challenging backcountry exploration. This 80 hour, 8 day program will introduce you to patient assessment, treatment and management of injuries in backcountry conditions. You will learn to improvise splints and litters, stop bleeding, and other potentially lifesaving skills. WFR allows students to gain in-depth understanding of wilderness medicine and to perfect their skills in ways that are just not possible in a WFA course. CPR certification is included with WFR courses.
SOLO has been educating and certifying folks in wilderness medicine since 1976. Wicked Good Wilderness Medicine is very proud to be able to offer SOLO certification courses here in Maine. For more information on SOLO and to learn more about the main campus in Conway NH, check out their website: https://www.soloschools.com
