This course is will cover all aspects of wilderness first aid and take a deeper dive into the most important medical topics you need to know. It will also cover leadership skills needed in medical emergencies. You will gain more hands-on experience in this class, as there is greater time for scenarios to build your skills and confidence.
SOLO has been educating and certifying folks in wilderness medicine since 1976. Wicked Good Wilderness Medicine is very proud to be able to offer SOLO certification courses here in Maine. This course is taught over four days and offered at our Brunswick, ME location. The cost of the course is $450 and does not include CPR. If you would like to take CPR we offer this course for an additional $45.

You should plan to wear or have with you clothing that will be appropriate for being both indoors and outdoors during your course. Weather permitting; we will be spending a significant portion of the class time outdoors. The following list in addition to the clothing you will be wearing and is to be considered a minimum. Feel free to supplement it with anything else you would normally carry. You will be using your equipment to provide care, build splints, and to keep yourself and OTHERS warm during scenarios.
Required: The following items should be packed for each class
___ Raingear tops and Bottoms (no ponchos)
___ 2 Warm Hats (synthetic* or wool)
___ 1 Pair Warm Gloves or Mittens (synthetic* or wool)
___ Long Underwear Tops and Bottoms (synthetic* or wool)
___ Warm Top and Bottom Layer (synthetic* or wool)
___ 2 Pair Warm socks (synthetic* or wool)
___ Pack (2500 cu in or larger) or duffle bag
___ 2 Water Bottles (1 liter/quart or larger)
___ Hiking boots or Sturdy Hiking Shoes
___ Notebook with Pen/Pencil
*Polyester or Polypropylene (Capilenetm, Bergelenetm, Dri-Climetm, etc.) We do not recommend cotton.
